Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the olive oil and activated yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, add canned crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

  2. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

  2. 8

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, transfer it to a floured surface and roll it out to your desired thickness.

  3. 9

    Add Sauce

Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread a layer of the sauce evenly over the surface.

  4. 10

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by an even layer of pepperoni slices.

  5. 11

    Bake Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 12

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
