Method

Prepare Sushi Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook Rice

In a pot, combine the rinsed sushi rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.

  3. 3

    Season Rice

In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool to room temperature.

Prepare Filling

  1. 4

    Make Spicy Tuna Mix

In a bowl, mix the spicy tuna with Sriracha sauce, mayonnaise, and sesame oil until well combined.

  2. 5

    Prepare Avocado

Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out. Cut it into thin slices.

  3. 6

    Prepare Crabstick

Shred the crabstick into bite-sized pieces.

  4. 7

    Prepare Salmon

Slice the sushi-grade salmon into thin strips.

Assemble Roll

  1. 8

    Prepare Nori

Place a bamboo sushi mat on a flat surface and lay a nori sheet shiny side down on the mat.

  2. 9

    Spread Rice

Wet your hands to prevent sticking. Take a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly over the nori, leaving about 1 inch at the top edge.

  3. 10

    Add Filling

Layer the spicy tuna mix, crabstick, avocado slices, and salmon evenly across the center of the rice.

  4. 11

    Roll Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, carefully lift the edge of the mat and roll it away from you, pressing gently to form a tight roll. Seal the edge with a little water.

  5. 12

    Make Additional Rolls

Repeat with the remaining nori sheets and filling ingredients.

  6. 13

    Slice Rolls

Once all rolls are made, slice each roll into 6-8 pieces using a sharp knife. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between slices to prevent sticking.

  7. 14

    Serve

Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired, and serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.
