Prepare the Salmon Roe

Rinse the Roe
Gently rinse the salmon roe under cold running water to remove any impurities or excess salt. Drain well.

Soak in Marinade
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Place the rinsed salmon roe into the marinade and let it soak for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Finely chop the green onions and set them aside for garnish.

In a dry skillet over medium heat, lightly toast the sesame seeds until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Stir frequently to avoid burning.
Serve the Ikura
