Dumpling Filling
Dumpling Wrappers
For frying
Method
Prepare the Filling
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Assemble the Gyoza
- 2
Fill the Wrappers
Take a gyoza wrapper and place about a teaspoon of the filling in the center. Be careful not to overfill. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water to help seal.
- 3
Fold and Seal
Fold the wrapper in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal, making sure there are no air pockets. You can create pleats along the edge for a traditional look.
- 4
Repeat
Continue this process until all the filling is used or you run out of wrappers.
Cook the Gyoza
- 5
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- 6
Pan-Fry the Gyoza
Add the gyoza to the skillet, making sure they are not overcrowded. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- 7
Steam the Gyoza
Carefully add the water to the skillet and cover immediately. Allow the gyoza to steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.
- 8
Serve
Remove the lid and allow any remaining water to evaporate. Serve the gyoza hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
