Sliders
Method
Pork Marinade Preparation
- 1
Mix Marinade
In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, five spice powder, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- 2
Marinate Pork
Add the pork shoulder (or belly) to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
Cooking the Pork
- 3
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 4
Cook Pork
Remove the pork from the marinade and place it on a rack over a baking sheet. Reserve the marinade. Bake in the preheated oven for 2 to 3 hours, or until the pork is tender and caramelized, basting with the reserved marinade every 30 minutes.
- 5
Rest the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
- 6
Slice Pork
Slice the pork into thin strips suitable for sliders.
Assemble Sliders
- 7
Prepare Buns
Slice the slider buns in half and lightly toast them if desired.
- 8
Assemble Sliders
Layer slices of char siu pork on the bottom half of each slider bun. Top with pickled cucumbers and sliced green onions. Drizzle with Sriracha, if using. Cap with the top half of the bun.
