Felafel Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Soak Garbanzo Beans

Soak the garbanzo beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse before using.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Mixture

In a food processor, combine the soaked garbanzo beans, cracked wheat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly coarse.

  3. 3

    Form the Felafel Balls

Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  5. 5

    Fry the Felafel

Carefully place the felafel balls in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Drain

Remove the felafel from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve hot with zazeeki sauce on the side.
