Method
Making the Hummus
- 1
Prepare the Chickpeas
Open the can of chickpeas and drain them. Rinse under cold water to remove excess sodium and then set aside.
- 2
Blend the Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves (peeled), lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- 3
Adjust Consistency
If the hummus is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency. Blend again to mix.
Serving the Hummus

Drizzle and Sprinkle
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika or sumac for garnish.
- 5
Prepare Pita Bread
Warm the pita bread in an oven or on a skillet until soft and pliable. Cut into wedges for dipping.
- 6

Serve the hummus alongside the warm pita wedges for a delicious dip.
