Potatoes

Method

Preparation of Potatoes

  1. 1

    Wash and Peel

Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler.

  2. 2

    Cut the Potatoes

Cut the peeled potatoes into fries, about 1/4 inch thick. Try to keep them uniform in size for even cooking.

  3. 3

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and promotes crispiness.

Cooking the Fries

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can use a kitchen thermometer to check the temperature.

  2. 5

    Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 6

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 7

    Remove and Drain

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  5. 8

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to coat evenly.
