Turkey Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Remove the turkey from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels. Ensure the neck and giblets are removed from the cavity.

  2. 2

    Season the Turkey

In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme. Rub this mixture all over the turkey, ensuring to get under the skin where possible for maximum flavor. Squeeze the juice of the lemon over the turkey and place the lemon halves inside the cavity.

  3. 3

    Prepare for Roasting

Place the turkey breast-side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan to keep the turkey moist during roasting.

  4. 4

    Roast the Turkey

Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound. Baste the turkey every 30 minutes with the juices from the pan.

  5. 5

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the turkey. It should reach 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.

  6. 6

    Rest Before Carving

Once done, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.
