Directions
- 1
Prepare the Apples
Wash the fresh apples thoroughly to remove any pesticides or dirt. Cut them into quarters, removing the stems and any bad spots.
- 2
Extract Apple Juice
Using a juicer or a blender, process the quartered apples to extract the juice. If using a blender, add a little water to help blend the apples smoothly, then strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to separate the juice from the pulp.
- 3
- 4
Add Yeast and Lemon Juice
Sprinkle 1 tsp of yeast and add 1 tbs of lemon juice to the apple mixture. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
- 5
Fermentation Process
Cover the pot with a clean cloth and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 5 to 7 days. Stir the mixture daily to keep the yeast active.
- 6
Bottle the Cider
After 5 to 7 days, when bubbling has slowed down, it's time to bottle the cider. Use a funnel to pour the cider into clean bottles, leaving some space at the top.
- 7
- 8
Secondary Fermentation
Let the bottled cider ferment for another 1 to 2 weeks in a cool, dark place. This will enhance the flavor and carbonation.
- 9
Chill and Serve
Once the cider has fermented, chill it in the refrigerator before serving. Enjoy your homemade Magners Cider!
