Baked Ham
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- 2
Prepare the Ham
Place the bone-in ham in a large roasting pan, fat side up. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep.
- 3
Make the Glaze
In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, and pineapple juice. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the glaze is smooth.
- 4
Glaze the Ham
Brush the glaze generously over the scored surface of the ham. Reserve some glaze for basting.
- 5
Add Water
Pour the water into the bottom of the roasting pan to keep the ham moist during cooking.
- 6
Bake the Ham
Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
- 7
Baste the Ham
After 1 hour, remove the foil and baste the ham with the reserved glaze. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes, uncovered.
- 8
Check for Doneness
Continue to bake, basting every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). This should take about 2 to 2.5 hours total.
- 9
Rest and Serve
Once done, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
