Preparation
- 1
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the potato strips in batches to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
- 5
Season the Fries
Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
