Method

Bagel Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Bagel Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour and salt, then mix until a dough forms. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth.

  2. 2

    Shape the Bagels

Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then poke a hole through the center with your finger to form a bagel shape.

  3. 3

    Boil and Bake

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil bagels for 1 minute on each side. Place on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes until golden.

Cream Cheese Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare Cream Cheese

In a bowl, mix cream cheese with chopped fresh chives and garlic powder if desired. Serve chilled.

Set Up Buffet

  1. 5

    Prepare Buffet Table

Arrange bagels, cream cheese, pastries, butter, jams, yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit on a serving table. Provide beverages in pitchers.

  2. 6

    Final Touches

Ensure all items are labeled and ready for guests to serve themselves.
