Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Oysters

Rinse the fresh oysters under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Use a brush if necessary to scrub the shells.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Steaming Liquid

In a large pot, combine 2 cups of water, 1 cup of white wine, and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix well.

Steaming

  1. 3

    Set Up the Steamer

Place a steaming basket or rack inside the pot with the steaming liquid. Ensure that the water does not touch the bottom of the basket.

  2. 4

    Steam the Oysters

Bring the steaming liquid to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once boiling, carefully place the cleaned oysters in the steamer basket. Cover the pot and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oysters open.

Serving

  1. 5

    Garnish the Oysters

Once the oysters are steamed and opened, carefully remove them from the pot. Place them on a serving platter and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve with lemon wedges and hot sauce on the side.

  2. 6

    Enjoy

Serve the steamed oysters warm. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over them and add hot sauce to taste before enjoying.
