Slice the Onions
Peel the large onions and slice them into 1/2 inch thick rings. Carefully separate the rings and set them aside.

Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk the dry ingredients together until well blended. Gradually add cold water while whisking until the batter is smooth and thick.

Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.

Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
