Cheese Preparation

Breading Mixture

Dipping Sauce (optional)

Method

Cheese Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and freeze them for about 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape during frying.

Breading Mixture

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

In three separate bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, add the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In the third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Take each frozen mozzarella stick and coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully coated. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere. Repeat for all cheese sticks.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a small piece of bread in; if it bubbles and sizzles, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add the breaded cheese sticks to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve with Dipping Sauce

Serve the fried cheese sticks warm with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
