Preparation
- 1
Clean the Mussels
Rinse the black mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any debris or sand. Remove the beards if present.
- 2
Prepare the Vegetables
Peel the potato and cut it into quarters. Remove the husk from the corn and break it into halves if desired.
Cooking
- 3
Boil the Corn and Potato
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the potato quarters and cook for about 10 minutes, then add the corn. Cook both for an additional 5-7 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.

Cook the Mussels
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the cleaned mussels, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Cover and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels open up. Discard any mussels that do not open.
