Fish and Marinade

Breading

Serving

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Tilapia

In a bowl, combine lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Place the tilapia fillets in the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Breading Process

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour and cornmeal. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  2. 3

    Coat the Fish

Remove the marinated tilapia from the refrigerator. Dip each fillet into the flour-cornmeal mixture, making sure to coat it evenly. Next, dip the coated fillet into the egg mixture, and finally, coat it again in the flour-cornmeal mixture. Set aside on a plate.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  2. 5

    Fry the Tilapia

Carefully place the breaded tilapia fillets into the hot oil, without overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oil and let drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Fried Tilapia

Arrange the fried tilapia on a serving plate. Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side for dipping.
