Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Filling Ingredients

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, finely chopped green onions, garlic powder, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.

Wrapper Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Wonton Wrappers

Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Keep them covered with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out while you work.

Filling the Wrappers

  1. 3

    Fill the Wontons

Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the crab filling in the center. Use your finger to moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper over to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal tightly. Make sure there are no air pockets. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep saucepan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of wonton; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.

  2. 5

    Fry the Crab Rangoon

Carefully add the filled wontons to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Crab Rangoon

Serve the hot Crab Rangoon with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
