Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

In a large bowl, soak the clams in cold water for about 20 minutes to help remove any sand or grit. Rinse them thoroughly under cold running water.

  2. 2

    Chop the Garlic and Parsley

Finely chop the garlic cloves and roughly chop the fresh parsley leaves. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half and set it aside for later use.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large pot or skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 5

    Add the Wine and Seasoning

Pour in the dry white wine and add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Add the Clams

Add the cleaned clams to the pot. Cover and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams have opened. Discard any clams that remain closed.

  4. 7

    Finish the Dish

Once the clams are cooked, remove the pot from heat. Squeeze the juice from one half of the lemon over the clams and sprinkle with chopped parsley.

  5. 8

    Serve

Serve the clams hot with the remaining lemon half for extra flavor. Enjoy with some crusty bread to soak up the delicious broth.
