Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Eggs

Take the large eggs out of the refrigerator and allow them to reach room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. This helps to prevent cracking during boiling.

Boiling

  1. 2

    Boil Water

In a medium-sized pot, add 4 cups of water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 3

    Add the Eggs

Once the water is boiling, gently lower the eggs into the pot using a slotted spoon or tongs to avoid cracking them.

  3. 4

    Cooking Time

Allow the eggs to boil for 9-12 minutes depending on your desired doneness. For soft-boiled eggs, cook for 6-8 minutes, for medium-boiled, cook for 9-10 minutes, and for hard-boiled, cook for 11-12 minutes.

Cooling

  1. 5

    Cool the Eggs

Once the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the eggs from the boiling water and place them in a bowl of ice water for about 5 minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes peeling easier.

Peeling and Serving

  1. 6

    Peel the Eggs

After cooling, gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell and peel under running water if desired.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the boiled eggs as is, or sprinkle a pinch of salt on top for added flavor.
