Biscuit and Filling Ingredients

Method

Preparation and Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuits

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 30 seconds. Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 2

    Cook the Fillings

While the biscuits are baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. In the same skillet, fry the eggs sunny-side up, seasoning with black pepper. If using, heat the smoked ham or sausage slices until warmed through.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Once the biscuits are baked, split them in half. Layer the bottom half with bacon, a fried egg, a slice of American cheese, and if desired, smoked ham or sausage. Top with the other half of the biscuit. Serve with a side of hashbrown casserole if desired.
