Preparing the Meat

Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or ground chicken. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Break up the meat with a spatula as it cooks.

Add Taco Seasoning
Once the meat is cooked, drain any excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and follow package instructions for adding water (usually about 1/4 cup). Simmer for an additional 5 minutes until the seasoning is well incorporated.

Build Your Tacos
Lay a warm tortilla on a plate. Spoon a desired amount of cooked meat onto the center of the tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and sliced jalapeños. Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top as desired.

Serve the assembled tacos immediately with any extra toppings on the side for guests to customize their tacos.
