Tater Tots

Toppings

Method

Prepare Tater Tots

  1. 1

    Bake Tater Tots

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the frozen tater tots on a baking sheet and drizzle with cooking oil. Bake according to package instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Make Chili

  1. 2

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  2. 3

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 4

    Combine Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the canned kidney beans (drained and rinsed), diced tomatoes (with juice), chili powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assemble Loaded Tots

  1. 5

    Top Tater Tots

Once the tater tots are done baking, remove them from the oven and place them in a large serving dish. Spoon the homemade chili generously over the tater tots.

  2. 6

    Add Cheese and Onions

Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chili while it's still hot, allowing it to melt. Top with sliced green onions.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve hot and enjoy your loaded chili tots!
