Tea Base

Garnishes (optional)

Method

Preparation of Tea Base

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep Tea

Once the water is boiling, add 2 cups of black tea leaves. Reduce the heat to low and let steep for 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Strain Tea

After steeping, strain the tea leaves from the liquid into a teapot or large pitcher.

Adding Flavorings

  1. 4

    Add Flavorings

To the strained tea, add 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger (sliced), 5 cloves, and 1 star anise. Stir well.

  2. 5

    Simmer

Cover the teapot and let the mixture simmer on low heat for an additional 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  3. 6

    Add Pumpkin and Sweeteners

Stir in 1 tablespoon of pumpkin puree, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Final Touches

  1. 7

    Add Milk

Pour in 1 cup of milk or your choice of plant-based milk, stirring to combine. Heat gently until warmed through, but do not boil.

  2. 8

    Serve

Pour the hot tea into mugs. Optionally, top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon powder and pumpkin spice before serving.
