Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter over low heat. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Stir until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold until just combined; do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
