Hummus Ingredients

Method

Hummus Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium. If desired, you can remove the skins for a smoother texture.

  2. 2

    Blend the Hummus

In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, fresh lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and water. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.

  3. 3

    Adjust Consistency

If the hummus is too thick, add extra water, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired creaminess is achieved.

  4. 4

    Add Fresh Dill

Add the fresh dill to the hummus and pulse a few times to incorporate it into the mixture.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Pita Bread

While the hummus is blending, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the pita bread into triangles and arrange them on a baking sheet.

  6. 6

    Crisp the Pita

Brush the pita triangles with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy.

  7. 7

    Serve the Hummus

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Top with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of chopped olives. Serve with crispy pita on the side.
