Fried Chicken Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
- 3
- 4
Dredge the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to coat.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, working in batches if necessary. Fry for about 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
