Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, salt, and black pepper. Add the sirloin steak and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

Heat a grill or skillet over high heat. Sear the marinated steak for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Ponzu Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix Ponzu Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, citrus juice, mirin, and dashi stock. Stir until well blended.

Sushi Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse sushi rice under cold water until water runs clear. Combine rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to manufacturer's instructions. Once cooked, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt into the rice and let it cool.

  2. 5

    Assemble Sushi Rolls

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread a thin layer of sushi rice on top, leaving space at the edges. Lay seared salmon or tuna and avocado slices in the center. Roll tightly, then slice the rolls into bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
