Preparation
Slice the Steak
Thinly slice the beef sirloin steak against the grain into bite-sized pieces.
Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and chop the vegetables: slice the shiitake mushrooms, cut the napa cabbage into bite-sized pieces, chop the green onions, and julienne the carrot. Cut the tofu into cubes.
Cooking
Make the Sauce
In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and brown sugar. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
Cook the Steak
In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, add a little oil. Once hot, add the sliced steak and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the Sauce
Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked steak. Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Add Vegetables and Tofu
Add the shiitake mushrooms, napa cabbage, green onions, carrots, and tofu to the skillet. Stir gently to combine and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
Garnishing and Serving
Garnish the Dish
Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped cilantro on top of the dish before serving.
Serve
Serve hot, straight from the skillet, with steamed rice on the side.
