Pizza Dough

Method

Preparation of Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (1.5 cups) and sugar (1 tsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tsp) on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (3 cups) and salt (1 tsp). Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil (2 tbs) to the flour mixture.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare Pizza Base

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness for pizza.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce (1 cup) evenly over the base, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese (2 cups) on top.

  4. 8

    Add Toppings

Layer the pepperoni slices (1 cup), bell peppers (1 cup), red onion (0.5 cup), mushrooms (1 cup), and black olives (0.5 cup) over the cheese. Sprinkle dried oregano (1 tsp) and chopped fresh basil (0.5 cup) on top.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!
