Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Incorporate Butter

Add the unsalted butter into the dry mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

    Add Water

Gradually add the water, mixing until the dough is just combined. Do not overwork the dough.

  4. 4

    Chill Dough

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before rolling out.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Apples

In a medium bowl, combine the diced Granny Smith apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated.

  2. 6

    Mix in Graham Crackers

Add the graham cracker crumbs to the apple mixture and stir until evenly distributed.

Assembly & Baking

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 8

    Roll Out Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into large circles (approximately 6 inches in diameter).

  3. 9

    Fill Calzones

Spoon a generous amount of the apple filling onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edges.

  4. 10

    Seal Calzones

Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

  5. 11

    Bake

Place the calzones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 12

    Cool and Serve

Allow the calzones to cool slightly before drizzling with caramel sauce and dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
