Fried Oysters

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  4. 4

    Bread the Oysters

Dip each oyster in the egg mixture and then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Oysters

Carefully place the breaded oysters in the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Chargrilled Oysters

  1. 6

    Prepare the Grill

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 7

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, mix together the butter, minced garlic, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 8

    Grill the Oysters

Place the oysters on the grill, open side up. Spoon the butter mixture over each oyster. Grill for about 5-7 minutes until the oysters are cooked and the edges curl.

Baked Oysters

  1. 9

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 10

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, melted butter, garlic powder, paprika, and salt.

  3. 11

Place the oysters on a baking sheet and spoon the breadcrumb mixture over each one.

  4. 12

    Bake the Oysters

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
