Slowly pour in the beer while continuing to whisk until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off.
