Method

Crab Preparation

  1. 1

    Thaw the Crab

If using frozen Alaskan snow crab, place it in the refrigerator overnight to thaw. If you're short on time, you can run it under cold water for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare a Pot of Water

Fill a large pot with water and add a generous amount of salt. Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  3. 3

    Cook the Crab

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the thawed snow crab to the pot. Boil for 5-7 minutes. If the crab is already cooked, just heat it through.

  4. 4

    Remove and Drain

Using tongs, remove the crab from the pot and place it on a plate or in a colander to drain.

Butter Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it becomes bubbling and foamy.

  2. 6

    Add Garlic

Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the melted butter. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 7

    Add Lemon Juice and Seasoning

Stir in the lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

Place the cooked Alaskan snow crab on a serving platter or individual plates.

  2. 9

    Drizzle the Butter Sauce

Generously drizzle the prepared butter sauce over the crab or serve it on the side for dipping.

  3. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with lemon wedges if desired and serve immediately while hot.
