Ingredients

Meatballs

Marinara Sauce

Pasta

Preparation

Meatballs

1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

2. Shape the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). With your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

3. Bake the Meatballs

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce

4. Sauté the Onions and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

5. Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Add Meatballs to Sauce

Once the meatballs are done baking, gently add them to the marinara sauce. Allow them to simmer together for an additional 10 minutes.

Pasta

7. Cook the Penne Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water. Add penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 11-13 minutes.

8. Drain the Pasta

Once the pasta is cooked, drain it in a colander and return it to the pot. Do not rinse the pasta.

9. Combine Pasta with Sauce

Add the marinara sauce with meatballs to the pot with the drained penne. Gently toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the sauce.

Serving

10. Serve

Serve the Penne & Meatballs hot, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley if desired.
