Pasta and Chicken Preparation

Cook the Penne Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side or until fully cooked and no longer pink in the center. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Add Tomatoes and Simmer
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, fresh basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Alfredo Sauce Preparation

Add Cream and Cheese
Reduce heat to low, then stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Assembly and Serving

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Toss the cooked penne pasta with your choice of either the tomato-basil sauce or the Alfredo sauce until evenly coated.

Serve with Chicken and Bread
Plate the pasta topped with sliced chicken breast, and serve warm with a loaf of warm bread on the side.
