Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium and canning liquid.

  2. 2

    Peel the Garlic

Peel one garlic clove and roughly chop it to enhance blending.

Blending

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a food processor, add the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, chopped garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and water.

  2. 4

    Blend Until Smooth

Blend the mixture until it reaches a creamy and smooth consistency. You may need to scrape down the sides of the bowl occasionally.

  3. 5

    Adjust Consistency

If the hummus is too thick, gradually add more water, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Hummus

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. If using, top with roasted red peppers or chopped fresh herbs for added flavor and presentation.

  2. 7

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle a little extra olive oil on top for added richness and garnish.

  3. 8

    Enjoy

Serve with pita bread, vegetable sticks, or crackers. Enjoy your creamy chickpea dip!
