Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 0.5 cups of cocoa powder, 1 tsp of baking powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat 2 eggs. Then add 0.5 cups of milk, 0.25 cups of vegetable oil, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool Base

Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat 0.5 cups of softened butter until creamy. Gradually add in 2 cups of powdered sugar and 0.25 cups of cocoa powder, mixing well.

  2. 8

    Add Milk and Vanilla

Add 2 tbsp of milk and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the frosting mixture. Beat until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.

  3. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the base has cooled completely, spread the frosting evenly over the top of the cake using a spatula.
