Step 1: Prepare the Sorrel
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add 2 cups of dried sorrel flowers, 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, and 5 whole cloves. Stir well to combine.

Step 2: Steep the Mixture
Remove the pot from heat and cover. Let the mixture steep for about 2-3 hours or until it cools down to room temperature. This allows the flavors to infuse.

Step 3: Strain the Liquid
Once the mixture has cooled, strain it through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove the solids. Discard the solids.

Step 5: Add Lime Juice
Stir in 1 tablespoon of lime juice for additional flavor.

Step 6: Optional: Add Rum
If desired, add 1 cup of rum to the mixture for an alcoholic version. Stir well to combine.

Refrigerate the sorrel drink for a few hours until chilled. Serve over ice and enjoy!
