Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Snapper

Rinse the snapper fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This will help remove any excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Season the Fish

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, lemon juice, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Rub this mixture evenly over both sides of the snapper fillets.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Steaming Setup

Fill a large pot with 2 cups of water and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Place a steamer basket or a heatproof plate that fits inside the pot.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Steam the Snapper

Once the water is simmering, place the seasoned snapper fillets in the steamer basket or on the plate. Top each fillet with lemon slices and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.

  2. 5

    Cover and Cook

Cover the pot with a lid, making sure it is tightly sealed. Steam the snapper for about 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Serve

Carefully remove the snapper from the steamer and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with additional cilantro if desired, and serve with your favorite side dishes.
