Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Salted Codfish

Place the salted codfish in a bowl and cover it with water. Let it soak for at least 8 hours or overnight to remove excess salt.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

Finely chop the green bell pepper, scallions, and garlic. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Flake the Codfish

After soaking, drain the codfish and rinse it under cold water. Remove any bones and skin, then flake the fish into small pieces.

  2. 4

    Mix the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the flaked codfish, chopped vegetables, and egg to the dry mixture. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.

  4. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.

  5. 7

    Fry the Fritters

Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
