Method
Pork Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Start by trimming any excess fat from the pork shoulder. Then, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl to create a spice rub.
- 2
Season the Pork
Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well coated.
- 3
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Combine apple cider vinegar and water, and pour this mixture over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the juices.
Sandwich Assembly
- 5
Toast the Buns
While the pork is cooking, prepare your buns by toasting them on a grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwiches
To assemble each sandwich, place a generous amount of pulled pork on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Drizzle BBQ sauce over the pork to your liking. If desired, top with coleslaw for added crunch.
- 7
Serve
Place the top half of the bun over the pulled pork and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious pulled pork sandwich!
