Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball of dough. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add the 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until hot (around 350°F or 180°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe strips of dough (about 4-6 inches long) into the oil.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Use tongs to turn them for even cooking.

  4. 8

    Drain and Coat

Once cooked, remove the churros from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. While still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
