Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Make sure to rub the spices all over the meat.

In a slow cooker, place the seasoned pork shoulder. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and pour in the water. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and let it cool slightly. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Stir in the BBQ sauce until well combined.
