Tea Base

Tapioca Pearls

Ice

Method

Prepare the Tea Base

  1. 1

    Brew the Tea

In a small saucepan, boil 2 cups of water. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, strain the tea into a jug. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar while the tea is still warm. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Allow to cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Tapioca Pearls

  1. 3

    Boil the Tapioca Pearls

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of tapioca pearls and stir occasionally. Cook according to package instructions, usually around 15-20 minutes, until the pearls become translucent.

  2. 4

    Rinse and Sweeten the Pearls

Once cooked, drain the pearls and rinse under cold water. Place them in a bowl and add a splash of sugar syrup or honey to sweeten them. Set aside.

Assemble the Bubble Tea

  1. 5

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large glass, add 1 cup of cooked tapioca pearls at the bottom. Pour in the cooled sweetened tea, then add 1 tablespoon of your chosen fruit syrup. If desired, add 1 cup of milk (or non-dairy alternative) for a creamier texture.

  2. 6

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes to your preference, then stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
