Method

Marinate Beef

  1. 1

    Prepare Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped green onions, and black pepper. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate Beef

Add the beef sirloin strips to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours for enhanced flavor.

Cook Rice

  1. 3

    Rinse Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 4

    Cook Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed jasmine rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

Cook Beef

  1. 5

    Heat Pan

In a large skillet or wok, heat over medium-high heat until hot. You may add a little oil if your pan is not non-stick.

  2. 6

    Stir-fry Beef

Add the marinated beef strips to the hot skillet in a single layer. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until browned and cooked through. Do not overcrowd the pan; you may need to do this in batches.

Serve

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Serve the stir-fried beef over a bed of jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions.

  2. 8

    Enjoy

Enjoy your homemade Bul Go Gee!
