Method

Beef Teriyaki

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Mix until the sugar and cornstarch are dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Beef

Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips and place it in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the beef, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours.

  3. 3

    Broil the Beef

Preheat the broiler. Place the marinated beef on a broiler pan in a single layer. Broil for about 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through, until cooked to desired doneness. Remove from broiler and let it rest for a few minutes.

Hibachi Vegetables

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the beef is marinating, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced zucchini, bell pepper, carrot, and onion.

  2. 5

    Cook the Vegetables

Sauté the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender-crisp. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.

Rice

  1. 6

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of white rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and keep warm.
