Oriental Sauce

Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Season the Ribs

In a large bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the beef ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F or 175°C). If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are mostly covered with ash.

Making the Oriental Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine the Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chili flakes. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Gradually add this to the sauce, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Grilling the Ribs

  1. 5

    Grill the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on the preheated grill. Cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, turning occasionally, until the ribs are tender and have nice grill marks.

  2. 6

    Baste with Sauce

During the last 30 minutes of grilling, start basting the ribs with the oriental sauce every 10 minutes for a flavorful glaze.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Ribs

Once the ribs are cooked through and tender, remove them from the grill. Allow them to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra sauce on the side.
