- 2
Mix Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembly and Cooking
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it is hot enough for baking.
- 6
Prepare Sauce
In a bowl, mix the canned crushed tomatoes with salt and black pepper to taste. Set aside.
- 7
Shape Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness, typically about 12 inches in diameter.
- 8
Add Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them on top of the sauce. Add fresh basil leaves.
- 9
Drizzle Olive Oil
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the assembled pizza.
- 10
Bake Pizza
Transfer the pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Cool and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve hot.
